I don't know, I've been trying everything.
It appears to be stable now.

Re: Menstruation
I have a fix for the restart
The lag has nothing to do with my server files, as I've changed nothing. There really is no reason for it. There's nothing I can do.
If you guys want, I could put up a temp map and disable plugins one by one to see if there's lag, it would take about an hour to see what's the culprit though.

Re: Menstruation
another thought of mine...i mean lizardman is in our emoticons now...sign of a hack?
I also notice a strange correlation between the time of Pat's temp forum admin and the time of our epic lag spikes...something to consider maybe?

Re: Menstruation
No, I don't think it was orc. I added the lizardman emoticon btw.
I can't speak for the other members of his server though, but I don't see why they'd want to do this.

Re: Menstruation
i dont believe orcworm himself would ever do anything like this to us XD unsure about some others though ... not going to mention any names due to the possibility that they aren't attacking us...yet, dont need no aggro right now
but this does seem like a classic case of Dos attack (after i did some reading XD) and get rid of the lizardman emoticon, its creepy as shit

Re: Menstruation
Symptoms and manifestations
The United States Computer Emergency Response Team defines symptoms of denial-of-service attacks to include:
Unusually slow network performance (opening files or accessing web sites)
Unavailability of a particular web site
Inability to access any web site
Dramatic increase in the number of spam emails received—(this type of DoS attack is considered an e-mail bomb)[2]
Denial-of-service attacks can also lead to problems in the network 'branches' around the actual computer being attacked. For example, the bandwidth of a router between the Internet and a LAN may be consumed by an attack, compromising not only the intended computer, but also the entire network.
If the attack is conducted on a sufficiently large scale, entire geographical regions of Internet connectivity can be compromised without the attacker's knowledge or intent by incorrectly configured or flimsy network infrastructure equipment

No but you can monitor where the problem traffic is coming from.
You can use a network command
Netstat -a to show your open TCP & UDP Ports and what
remote addresses your computer is connected to.
Sysinternals Networking utilities
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/677683af-3f5e-42ea-8116-9c92acd2c271.aspx
TCPView
Change your network card DNS servers. They may
cause you to have high pings.
You should get good pings from your ISP's website and google.com

Re: Menstruation
Things I have found is that if it was a true DoS attack your server wouldn't lag. It would be down. The most likely thing is it is your ISP doing idk what. via the same yahoo answers page there was this post "that is most likely your provider overseeing your downloads this is common (consider this - it goes thru their servers they have a right to scan it. check your contract)"
EDIT:
There are resource monitoring tools, an interesting one being http://munin-monitoring.org/
I am trying it out now.
