After several more attempts to downgrade my minecraft (all failures) i have given up all hopes of getting back on to 1.2.5 freeds. If we do decide to do the 2 double chests of stuff copied over i would need someone to get access to my chests and have items i would like copied over put into these two double chests. I'm not sure at all what will happen but if we choose the double chests i will be in need of assistance. Thanks.

What happens in your failures to downgrade? All you have to do is drag and drop the minecraft.jar FERMIS gave you over the existing one. Renaming is a waste, if you want a 1.3 .jar file you can just update.

    EDIT:

    Please!
Given this, you're trying to use some sort of compressed folder opener thing but you don't need to. Just do what I said, and all will be fine.

Do it yourself boyo, seeing as we haven't actually finished the planning stage and 1.3.1 is already out. Did you honestly think we'd make people go back to 1.2.5 to save their stuff rather than just keep the map on 1.3.1 for a bit to do it? We aren't that thick...

Also, what near said is an even simpler version of what I just said in the other post >_> (which was an attempt at making Ferm's more simple...).

Well I found the problem. FERMIS forgot to delete the META-INF in his minecraft.jar. Just open up the .jar and delete it, and you'll be good to go.

EDIT: Well that's not the problem actually, my bad. Trying couldn't hurt though. Are you trying to change it when you still have minecraft open? Those are maybe the only suggestions I have left.

If I get a freeze at the done loading screen its usually because none of my minecraft.jars are named right. It has to be exactly minecraft.jar in your bin, and there has to be only the one you want, otherwise I'm pretty sure it uses the most up-to-date one.

You can't have two of the same file in a directory; it adds a (1) or something like that if you try to rename one file as another.

But yes, it has to be minecraft.jar

I dont get why you lot do things the hard way.

    Before update: BACKUP.
By backup, I mean backup everything. bin, jar, exe everything. Chuck it in a folder somewhere that you call 1.2.5. Make sure its in order as well so you can simply copy paste it all.

This way you can easy enough fix any issue that can/will happen if shit does hit the fan. If nothing does work, delete everything (no, not the backups) and chuck in the old stuff.
Been doing this since beta and it still works.
