Official Server Texture Pack? Yes Please!

I have been working on my own texture pack for a while now, and I'm nearly done with the terrain and items. I'd like to know what everyone thinks about it being the official server texture pack. Here are some pictures!

Just made TONS of the texture, and here they are

UPDATE MARCH 24: V 0.1 Will be released soon, the terrain.png is just about finished

it looks a little bit...basic, doesn't it?

This is my plan: We take preliminary polls on 4 categories: realistic, basic, or other.
Once we have "candidates" we will have a final poll on a "default" tex pack for the server.

I think that since each person has their idea of what texture pack looks best, it's ridiculous to try to have 1 server-wide texturepack

It's not going to be necessary, just advised.
But in that case, screw the candidacy thing. Let's go with a pack that's as close to the default as possible. I'm leaning towards a realistic one.

Awww... I did a huge remake today of some of the textures and i'm putting up a picture right now

I've currently got the Johnsmith V7 but I've added some extras from various other packs as well as editing the existing cobble

Oh and hi Cliff! You should've seen the griefing people did to your house/farm. It's all /bb rollback'd and griefers banned, but it was amazing.

I dont get this whole texture pack thing though, i use my own texture pack and so does most other people, how will having a server texture pack make a difference to anything? and is it possible to change people's default texture pack to the one we call the default server texture pack? i just don't understand it :S

It's just a suggested pack. Here's a terrible real world example:
I donated to orc's by converting USD to GDP. I can still use USD, but if everyone else is using GDP, I might as well also; however, I can still use USD if I want to.

I don't see why anyone would use realistic texture packs. Minecraft is made of blocks, and in my eyes, i think minecraft should be more cartoon-like than realistic

Well everyone has they're preferences but I prefer realistic to some lego sh*t
