PVP Greif Clarification

Hello. Recently on the sever I have been getting a little taste of PVP for myself. Most people will make giant castles with walls and motes and such to keep people out. The griefing rule regarding PVP on the server says:

"Building to gain access to another player's build IS allowed however, as long as nothing you build to gain access touches the other player's build in any way (you MUST remain at least one block away)."

Noting that the rule says at least one block away and does not clarify in which direction the 1 block is I have a few screenshots of what I would like clarification on.

Example 1:


This one is a given as the dirt is one block away from the build in all directions.

Example 2:


This one is a little more controversial and many members would consider this griefing. BUT this dirt build that I built next to this brick house is at least 1 block away in ALL directions therefor not breaking the PVP griefing rule.

Example 3:


This one would apply the same as example 2. The tree build I used to gain access into the brick house is 1 block away in all directions. Although I put a dirt block and planted a tree which is directly over the lava pit, the 1 block away rule still applies and is a legal maneuver.

Please respond with your thoughts on the matter and tell me if I am interpreting the rule correctly.

I believe I also heard a rule about not being able to build structures over other peoples stuff also... Hope Pat will see this post and clear things up if they need to be.

I took another gander at the rules and I do not see that written anywhere.

i like haha i mean, really its risky either way if you were to do taht you probably would fall in to lava a couple times

I remembered hearing something like it while I was on when I first joined this server, an admin was dealing with someone else's castle/house thing. Wish I had a SS to post but sadly I do not.

2 and 3 are against the rules.

Update the rules please.

3/4 of the server should be banned already because of this.

meh, setup some traps and your fine. If you got a large enough castle and a center keep that should not be a problem to have serveral layers of either automatic, semi automatic, manual or one time based traps, or even a combination of all. Useing anything from simple water, sand/gravel, lava, tnt and cacti with simplish mechanics.

my bad, i did know this was against the rules, but i forgot to mention it when i wrote that rules up, i'll rewrite it now as my grammar are better than Pat's

Nope. The sapling was NOT over your moat. But the result of it WAS. We were just getting a little desperate for pvp. Still quite a bit of a loophole, though. I admitted it on 3z's thread.
