So long story short, I got involved in a development team for something, and they assume I can do at least a little bit of programming. Thing is, I can't. I would never admit that though, so instead I need to learn SOME of SOMETHING quickly. help me?

Well saying I need to learn programming is about as vague as saying I met some people from some country that don't speak english and I need to learn their language.

Looks like you're in the shit then. There are plenty of ways to do "programming". It really depends on exactlly what the heck you are doing in relation and its language -_-

Well I did say long story short now didn't I. I understand that programming languages vary vastly, all I really need is some language which I can pretend to have a slight background in. Anyways, right now I'm learning C++, I saw it pop up quite a bit. Really I was just opening the discussion for any suggestions of a good language to start learning or a good place to start learning said language. I was vague for a reason, I didn't want to limit any of your suggestions.

C++ is pretty much the basis of what most of the other stuff is based on, in one degree or another. So. yea. You might as well start there.
Honestly tho, just admit that you dont know shit but want to learn, might be simpler.

Python, and PHP are languages I like to play with, C++ is a good language to know though.

Web stuff is always fun in my opinion =p I like doing some jQuery, html and CSS to make something qick and kind of cool.
